Hilke Schellmann (Journalism) and Mona Sloane’s (Technology, Culture and Society) Seed Grant project has been announced as the winner of a $200,000 grant from the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation. Schellmann and Sloane will build on their work under the NYU Digital Humanities Seed Grants program to advance their prototype for Gumshoe, an AI tool that assists under-resourced newsrooms in scaling up their investigative capacity by democratize access to FOIA. The tool developed will be made available to newsrooms around the country.
